"When I was in high school, I thought about how to make painting a job. However, at that time, the Internet was not developed, and I did not have an image of drawing as a job. After that, as I researched various things, I learned that there were jobs in illustration and design, and after gaining knowledge at a vocational school, I got a job at a company involved in the design field."
―Please tell us why you started drawing abstract paintings."It was triggered by a workshop with children that I went to with a friend of mine, and during that workshop, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a pianist. The content of the workshop is "listening to music and drawing on a large piece of paper".
I did this workshop for about two years, but in the first year, I had no experience of "listening to music and drawing on a large piece of paper", so I tried it before the event with the children. Then I got hooked on it, and once I started drawing, I couldn't stop. I had never painted abstract paintings before, so this workshop was the trigger.
After that, I had the opportunity to exhibit my abstract paintings in a solo exhibition. Even though it is a solo exhibition, it is not a closed gallery, but a place where a corner of a shopping building is turned into an open gallery. Therefore, it was an image that people who visited the shopping building would stop by."
"I started thinking about what would happen if I showed my abstract paintings to others.
At that time, I was just writing on drawing paper, but I was addicted to abstract painting. So, I began to wonder what would happen if I showed this work instead of just drawing it, and I decided to give it a try."
-Did you feel anything when you actually exhibited it?"I felt that the power of painting is amazing.
The first time I exhibited it, it was just the month after the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, so people who saw the works sometimes cried. I remember that some of the people I talked to said, "I can finally breathe." Through that experience, I realized that painting has great power."
―What else did you feel?"I felt that by exhibiting my paintings, I could share them with others and connect with them.
Abstract paintings do not depict anything, so different people see completely different landscapes. Therefore, I began to think that people looking at the same painting are connected by people's inner emotions, not what they see from the outside. Isn't it very wonderful to resonate through the work in front of you?
Therefore, I began to think that perhaps people are connected through paintings and can feel each other. It's a grandiose story, but people can connect when people who watch the same work resonate with each other
"I want more people to see my work, so I hope to do a variety of initiatives.
If you want to earn money from painting, it is common to buy your own work. On the other hand, I am trying to see if there is anything else I can do. For example, the picture output service that is currently being prepared is an example.
As a common story, there is a problem that you are interested in a certain painting, but the original painting is too large to display. At that time, if you can sell it in a small size such as a postcard, the hurdle to purchasing it will be lowered. Smaller sizes make it easier to decorate your favorite pieces. If art becomes more familiar in your life, you will be healed by looking at paintings, and it will be a catalyst for conversation and action.
I also hope to work on connecting medicine and art. In a medical institution such as a hospital, not only patients who are hospitalized, but also those who work must have a hard time. Therefore, I believe that there is something that can be done through art in the medical field in terms of leading to healing and vitality."
―Please give a message to those who see your work."As a message to those who see my work, I would like to tell them not to think about anything when they see my work. I think it's okay for you to watch it without thinking about anything and feel whatever you feel there.
In your daily life, you have a lot of information and should always be using your brain for something. Therefore, many people may not have the opportunity to rest their minds outside of work. Therefore, I hope you will enjoy the luxury of not using your brain while watching the work."
