The main art materials I use for my works are Japan painting materials, but I also use acrylic and other materials, so it is not purely Japan painting. However, even if I were to use only Japan-style painting materials, I would not call myself a Japan painter. What is Japan painting in the first place? In modern times, I feel that its meaning is unclear.
I happen to pick up an art material called rock paint and paint what I like. It is Edo ukiyo-e, tattoos, and modern manga and anime. In that sense, it is the same as ancient rock paint and modern acrylic, and I paint my works with an advanced approach while following tradition. If I dare to say it, my work is retro-future.
In this exhibition, I hope to express my trajectory up to this point.
