The 19th contemporary art art fair "ART OSAKA 2021" will be held from July 18th (Sun) to 20th (Tuesday) [preview: 18th (Sunday) 12:00-16:00] at the Osaka City Central Public Hall (nationally designated important cultural property). "ART OSAKA" has the longest history among the current art fairs in Japan. It has been supported as a hotel-type art fair specializing in contemporary art. This year, we will take a new step by stepping out of the hotel and collaborating with Osaka's representative modern architecture.
The Osaka City Central Public Hall, which will be the venue, is located in Nakanoshima and has been popular with many people as a place for culture, art, and social activities since its completion in Taisho 7. In addition to many cultural spots such as the National Museum of Art, Osaka, Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library, and Festival Hall, it is a notable area with the opening of the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka in 2022. In addition, Nakanoshima is surrounded by the Dojima River to the north and the Tosabori River to the south, and although it is in the center of the city, it is also surrounded by water and greenery.
"ART OSAKA 2021" will be held in this beautiful cultural and artistic area. This year, 46 talented galleries will be gathered, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos, prints, and installations selected with Gallerist's unique aesthetic eye. You can purchase your favorite works on the spot, so we hope it will be an opportunity for you to meet something special. Please look forward to the fusion of the public hall, which has been in the breath of culture and art since the Taisho era, and contemporary art works that live today.
Admission is a complete advance reservation and the number of people in the venue is limited. In order to ensure that everyone can enjoy the fair with peace of mind, we will take great care and conduct it safely in accordance with the guidelines for new coronavirus infection measures. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. (Official website)

▼Comment This year's venue is the Central Public Hall of Nakanoshima (completed in Taisho 7, an important cultural property of the country), a famous building proud of the commercial capital of Osaka. Since the opening of the gallery, I have considered it an opportunity that I would never have hoped for as a forgotten thing when I came to focus on the works of architects, and I will participate in the solo exhibition of Yusuke Mitsushima, an up-and-coming architect active in Kobe.
▼About the gallery Since its establishment in 1995, the pioneers of Japan's avant-garde art have already established original expressions of photograms in the 1930s. Eiku, who led an avant-garde group called "Democrats" in the 1950s, Shuzo Takiguchi, who also led the "Experimental Workshop", and Shunsuke Matsumoto, who left their mark on the history of modern Western painting in the early Showa period, are our main artists. In Contemporary, we deal with Yayoi Kusama, Aiko Miyawaki, and Nobuo Sekine. In addition, we have introduced the works of young artists (Tsuyoshi Haguri, Takuro Noguchi, and Yusuke Mitsushima) who are developing unique expressions rooted in Japan's traditions. He is also active as a printmaker, and has produced most of the prints of Japan's leading architects, Tadao Ando and Arata Isozaki. In recent years, he has also focused on photography, including vintage prints by Hideko Hosoe, Masaharu Ueda, and Ichitaka Narahara, as well as photographic works by Jonas Mekas.
