"Mitsu Yoshiwara Exhibition - Absent Room - 2021" (Reservation required/WEB exhibition)

Eri Yoshihara, who made a spectacular debut in his first solo exhibition in 1984, began to create copperplate prints using his unique "lamination technique" with familiar objects such as hats, teacups, and wine bottles. Since then, he has expanded into installations and has been presenting mixed media that fuses prints and paintings. In this exhibition, you will see about 13 works, including new mixed media and copperplate prints using lamination techniques.
[Statement] My career as an artist started with printmaking, but since the early days, I have been creating works in various materials and media in parallel with printmaking. The paintings "My book series," which began to be presented in 2001, use different materials such as cheesecloth and partly use prints. In his work, I was interested in the rhythm of the expression of images (prints) in notebooks and books and motifs of reality (painting), fiction and reality, in the form of picture-within-picture. Also, around 2012, I began to think of painting itself as a material, and began to create new relationships by allowing each work to encounter each work from a different perspective than I was conscious of when I was drawing. Rather than the act of creating it from start to finish, I am looking for the charm of an unfinished work and the surprise of the effect created by chance. As the first audience member, I hope that this work will make you feel such a sense of wonder. The Forgotten Things of Time exhibition facility has a unique sequencing space and an endless structure of interest that creates a variety of perspectives. I would like to work on making good use of my work in it.
