Tomoko Makino Web Solo Exhibition The passage of time
If you ask me what it contains, I can only answer that I don't contain anything. If someone who looks at my paintings senses something, I think it's because their sensibility has scooped it up.
Flowers grown by human hands, flowers and plants that take root in places where blocks and asphalt have been scraped back into sand, and man-made objects that decay over time.
The flowers and plants I was looking forward to were cut or culled.
When each such event is embedded in me, it is reborn as a motif.
Sometimes it connects the current me and the past me after more than ten years.
It doesn't shake my heart much, but it certainly exists and I suddenly encounter it.
In the midst of the change of time.
