Orca

Get used to your hands from familiar things

"I was born and lived in a special countryside where my children played. I started with ordinary pencils. When I entered elementary school, colored pencils were included in the set of teaching materials, and I gradually began to use them. It was a rural area where there were no art supply stores, and Internet shops were not developed, so I think I got used to it from what was close to me."

Orca is said to be active in such an idyllic hometown and is still active. Colored pencils have many difficulties, such as changes in pen pressure and rapid loss of lead. Furthermore, due to the nature of the art material, he realized that the colors weaken when exposed to light, and now many of his works use acrylic paints.

"At my parents' house, I spent time with my younger brother, who was two years older than me. When I was a child, my relatives often sent me clothes and sweets, and there were some VHS tapes in them. When I played "Sailor Moon", which seemed to be for me, and "Ultraman Tiga", which seemed to be for my younger brother, I was strongly attracted to the new world of "Ultraman Tiga", which had cool music and visuals. The design and appearance are shocking, and there is such a world! I was shocked, and from there I liked to see special effects works."

Encounter with light when I was 5 years old

"Since I became interested in "Ultraman Tiga", I still watch various special effects works. In movies and anime, the effects are quite clear and have a strong impact. I was thrilled by this aspect of wonderful works that match the timing in the world of tenths of a second, so I also focus on the effects elements in the works I create."

In the story of connecting the world of special effects and the worldview of Orca's work, I was able to hear Orca's unique philosophy in which various elements are closely intertwined in Orca's own words. It seems that what is attracting the most attention is the "effect in the motif".

"When I paint a picture in water, I focus on the effect in the motif, such as the bubbles that occur in the water. I also think of the picture frame used to display pictures as windows. Of course, I create works while allowing customers to look into the works in the window, as well as making them feel like they're looking at it from here."

I want to catch up with the light, on its back.

"Since the concept of the work is special effects, I try not to make it a secondary creation of an actual movie or anime. In addition to people, the motifs are often animals and creatures in urban legends. The motif like a human-faced fish is also interesting. Also, ghost stories and power spots often come to mind, such as visiting shrines and temples. There is a manga that deals with the modern history of the Japan police that I am reading right now, and when I read this work, I feel that many people were involved and many people were sacrificed, and the skeleton of the current Japan police was formed. What I found interesting was that it is often salted in places where people who have put in such hard work and risk their lives to help others gather. Not only the Japan police, but also the fire department and the Self-Defense Forces, as well as those who are risking their lives, have a shrine and a shrine, and I believe in God No. 1."

I was able to talk about the connection between legends and fears and the passionate side of people. Listening to Orca's story, I feel that the stories of people who are full of courage, such as Sentai Heroes and the Japan Police, and who can act for others, are good. He may have had a sense of justice since he was a child. In this interview, we were able to hear a lot of Orca's dazzling ambitions. I hope that readers will be able to deliver valuable time that they will not miss even the last word.

"Encountering special effects works may be the core of me as a writer and as a person who loves works. I would like to catch up with the light little by little."
