Tokyo University of the Arts is the oldest art university in Japan, founded in 1887, and the only comprehensive art university in Japan. Focusing on the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Music, we have developed specialized education in a wide range of artistic fields, and have produced many artists and cultural figures who are active around the world, such as Tenshin Okakura, Taikan Yokoyama, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Under the academic style of respecting tradition while constantly pursuing innovation, students are honing their outstanding skills and rich sensibilities to challenge diverse contemporary artistic expressions.
