From girls' manga to the warmth of food ─
Deepening and Changing Style

At the beginning of his debut, Nozaki had a reputation for depicting the subtleties of the human mind. In his representative works such as "Olive and the Three Popeyes" and "God's Gift", he has depicted the subtleties of life hidden in everyday life with a delicate touch. It is worth mentioning that the theme of her work gradually shifted to "food".

The pinnacle of this transformation was in 2018, when it won the "Cooking Recipe Book Award in Japan 2018" in the cooking category and comic award at "Tamako Set Meal No Order Restaurant". This work was highly praised as a moving movement that deeply touched the hearts of housewives who were worried about their daily dinners, and depicted the importance of food and the warmth of family.

She has published 261 works so far. In "Hospi Meshi Everyone's Meal", the importance of life is depicted through hospital food, in "Tenkokudo Cafe Around Heaven", the pattern of life is depicted in a coffee shop, and in "Italian Rice of the Heart", the exchange of hearts through food is depicted. These are not just cooking manga, but they are embodied in her belief that "people are connected and their hearts are healed through food."

As a "dot artist"
A new journey

In 2021, Nozaki, who will turn 65, will make a surprising transformation. That was a new start as a "dot artist". "As a manga artist, I have been drawing human minds, actions, joys, sorrows, the sky, scenery, stories, and time for many years. It showed the deepening of her outlook on life and art. Currently, he is also active as a dot artist under the alias "Eri Aono" and holds solo exhibitions twice a year in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.

Furthermore, Nozaki's activities are not limited to Japan. His activities have expanded both domestically and internationally, including solo exhibitions in Omotesando and Kyoto, as well as winning the Special Jury Prize at a public exhibition in Paris. Against the backdrop of the ability to weave stories that she has cultivated as a manga artist, she continues to pursue unique possibilities in the new field of expression called dot art.

Even at the age of 69
An ever-evolving expressive

Currently, Nozaki holds dot art lectures at a café in a quiet residential area. The classroom, which claims to "create beautiful works that look like they depict the universe," provides a rich time to inadvertently dot using a special pen and canvas. The process by which each dot comes together to create a beautiful work like a mandala is truly a microcosm of life.

As of February 2026, Nozaki is 69 years old, but his creative drive is undiminished. In December 2025, he will hold a solo exhibition in Ginza, Tokyo. He simultaneously showed off his 46 years as a manga artist and new challenges as a dot artist.
The illustrations of the fortune-telling magazine "My Birthday", which was in charge of the cover from the 80s to the 90s, will be exhibited at the Yayoi Museum of Art from July ~ September 2026.

From "line man" to "dot man". It can be said that Fumiko Nozaki's career has gone hand in hand with the development of Japanese manga culture. And now, she continues to present a new image of the "100-year life era" in a new realm of expression. Fumiko Nozaki's attitude of continuing to challenge new things regardless of age is her greatest charm.
