Born in 1950. Since I was in junior high school, I have been familiar with contemporary art under the influence of my older brother "Asaisu". In the summer of my first year of high school, my brother died in an accident in the sea of Izu. Spend a blank time. At the autumn cultural festival, a 2-meter-square plane was assembled with square wood, and waste materials such as motorcycle mudguards were obtained at a nearby scrap iron shop, tied with wire, and exhibited a work called "emergency exit". Influenced by Robert Rosenberg and Pollock in the United States, he wandered around Kyoto with his friends during spring break, wearing a sleeping bag. At that time, I was shocked by the 15 stone formations and sand-only garden of Ryoanji Temple, and I realized the depth of Japan culture. I admire the narrow path in the back of Matsuo Basho. In 1968, he entered the art department of Aichi University of Education. Dropped out after 6 years of school. Stay away from the world of art. I want to live a normal life so as not to be an idiot. Got a job as a door-to-door book salesman. Married in 1983. He became the father of four children. In 2000, before the age of 50, I couldn't help but feel a tingling insect in painting, and I started painting ink paintings. Since 2001, he has exhibited his ink paintings at the Toyo Nangain Exhibition every year. I love the haiku of Yosa Kabu Village. Since 2019, he has exhibited his Japan paintings at the Nippon Spring Exhibition and the Nippon Exhibition every year. In 2023, he edited and published the collection of writings "The Mystery of Gege". As of 2025, I am painting while working as a living assistant in a group home for people with disabilities. These days, I think that I have become a real picture idiot even though I don't want to be a picture idiot.
*"Asai O" (1942~1966 / real name: Masuo Asai) An artist from Nagakute Village, Aichi Prefecture (now Nagakute City). He developed a wide range of activities such as poetry, painting, and happenings, but passed away at the age of 24 (1966). In 2010, the outline of his activities became known through "Anarchism in the Body" written by Kuro Dalai. From October 29th ~ December 15th, 2022, "80th Anniversary of Asaisuo: Invisible Rearguard" will be held in one of the rooms of the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art Collection Exhibition. In 2023, Asaisu O's collection of writings "The Mystery of Gege" edited by Tamao Asai will be published. In 2023, the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art Research Bulletin No. 29 will feature "The Art and Life of Asaisuo" by curator Hisashi Ishizaki. Some of his activities will be introduced in the 2025 edition by Shuhei Hosoya, "Anti-Expo Ideas: A Collection of Yoshihiro Kato's Writings".
