I see "light" and "shadow" on canvas as expressions of complex emotions and outlooks on life that lurk deep within my heart. "Light" is an essential part of our lives, and its brilliance illuminates our daily lives, bringing hope and joy.
But at the same time, our inner "shadow" is also equally important, without which the glow of the "light" is not clearly felt. In the Japanese art tradition, light and shadow are never in opposition, but rather contrast and harmonize with each other. The more prominent the light, the deeper the shadows, and the beauty of coexistence on an equal footing has been found.
My work visually captures this dialogue, reflecting the emotions and outlook on life that lie deep within my heart. In a single painting, light and shadow harmonize to express the complex inner world of human beings. Each work will provide the audience with opportunities for introspection and empathy, and will be an opportunity to confront their own emotions.
