From France to the foot of Fuji
I planned to live in France forever, but due to my children living in Japan and Corona, I returned to Japan in 2020 after taking a break from my 32-year life in France.
I looked for a place to live to incorporate Mt. Fuji, which I had drawn before I went to France, into my last work.
I am now very satisfied with the environment where I can calmly work hard in the warm Shizuoka Prefecture. Mt. Fuji spreading out in front of you is mysterious and gives you a lot of energy every day. The climate of Japan, which is different from France, also opens up new eyes for production.
I would like to create a different work with this culture as a whole in mind.
●Takaya Shu
He moved to France with his two children in 1988 when he was 40 years old. He had a strong desire to touch the elite of art, and although he was anxious, he was determined to burn with hope. I had a house, and before I knew it, more than 30 years had passed. I was able to touch the core of art not only in France but also in Europe as a whole, and I returned to Japan in 2020 with the feeling that I had gained a great harvest. I had decided for a long time that if I wanted to return to Japan, I would paint Mt. Fuji, so I settled at the foot of Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi. I am always on-the-spot, I never use photography. He continues to create easels in nature. This is my way of life and my creed.
