Statement

"Botanical Japan" is an ERI-exclusive art concept that fuses natural materials with a uniquely Japanese aesthetic.
Through the technique of botany painting, the sensibilities and aesthetic spirit of the Japanese people, nurtured alongside nature, are expressed from a contemporary perspective.

At the heart of the work is the 'leaf veins' that spread across the lotus leaves.
We see it as a water vein that supports plant life, and at the same time, as a 'flow of life' that exists and circulates continuously, even though it is invisible.

Just as water continues to circulate through changing forms, aesthetic sensibilities and spirituality have also been passed down through the ages.
The countless lines carved into the leaves and colors represent the memory of Japan's "Wa" (harmony) that continues from the past to the present and into the future, and a story of life that should be passed down.
